Shelby Newstead Annual Fundraising Event 2017

The 2017 Shelby Doo was far and away the most successful up to that date with a highly impressive £150,000 raised.

“We’ll be lucky to get close to that again” thought most of the Committee Members.

So, onto preparations for the 2017 event with the theme being ‘From Russia With Love.’ And, true enough we didn’t manage to get close to the previous year’s total. We absolutely smashed it – with an incredible £150,000 of funds raised –net!

In hindsight we should have realised that something special could be about to happen because we had sold almost 1200 tickets- far and away the highest total ever.

Those 1200 guests were treated to a wonderful evening of celebrations, top-grade musical acts and a fantastic atmosphere at The Maidstone Exhibition Hall at Detling Showground, Kent on 18th November 2017.

With more than 100 companies providing sponsorship, 2017 was the most successful event in FoSN’s history. Guests were entertained by special performers ‘The Kitts’ – known as the ultimate party band with tight horns, elegant strings, choreographed dancers & Kitts Project house DJ on tap to accompany their killer rhythm section and the world’s most prolific session singers. The Kitts set list is a back-to-back compendium of the funkiest ever dancefloor hits, from massive current chart anthems through to the soul & Motown classics of the 70s & 80s, and everything in between.

Gwen Dickey from Rose Royce and George Anthony helped open the proceedings. Video endoresements from Jeremy Kyle and Status Quo’s Francis Rossi helped add to the gravitas of the event.

Complementing this top-class entertainment was the now-renowned FoSN Auction with a score of the most wonderfully luxurious experiences available including a FC Barcelona hospitality package, tickets for the 2018 Brit awards, visit The Riva factory in Italy, a two-week all-inclusive holiday in Turkey and many more fabulous opportunities.

Of particular interest was a stunning retro-themed painting by Shelby Newstead the original of which attracted a successful bid of £10,000 while limited edition prints brought in another £6,000!

So, much fun experienced by all who intended but the most important part of the evening remains the huge addition to the charity’s fund which will be made available to deserving children and their families in the month to come.

Bookings have already been taking for next year’s even which will take place at the same venue and will be held on 17th November 2018. To book your tickets – £70 each – contact
